Paratypes: AMNH 30214sw (4, c&s), 30219sw (1, c&s); CAS 13705 [ex IU 17250] (1). •Valid as Synbranchus madeirae Rosen & Rumney 1972 -- (Rosen & Greenwood 1976:56 [ref. 7094], Ortega & Vari 1986:19 [ref. 9708], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:594 [ref. 27061], Favorito et al. 2005:319 [ref. 28383], Sarmiento et al. 2014:181, 193 [ref. 35004], Careaga et al. 2020:78 [ref. 37774], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:27 [ref. 39298], Sabaj et al. 2022:12 [ref. 39304]). Current status: Valid as Synbranchus madeirae Rosen & Rumney 1972. Synbranchidae. Distribution: South America: Madeira River basin (Bolivia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
